The one-of-its-kind RITZ Icon Awards 2012 conducted yesterday was a great success and brought together a fantastic mix of achievers from all walks of life. From the biggest films stars to bureaucrats, entrepreneurs, fashion designers and social activists, RITZ Awardees cut across a wide spectrum of fields and came together for a profoudly inspiring event.
The venue was the ballroom of the grand Hilton Chennai. The names of Awardees are given below:
Sashikant Naidu, fashion designer; Suhani Pittie, jewellery designer, Sikkil Gurucharan, musician, Ambi Subramaniam, musician; Sharan Apparao, art entrepreneur; Bhavna Botta entrepreneur despite her condition of athetoid cerebral palsy; designer Manoviraj Khosla; Anirudh Ravichander, film music composer; Praveen Kumar IAS, Chief Electoral Officer of Tamil Nadu; Valarmathi of ISRO; Mr. Traffic Ramaswamy, social activist and Senthil Kumar Gopalan of the NGO Payir.
Director Prabhu Deva was Awarded the South Indian Icon of the Year for having struck gold in Bollywood. He was deeply moved by the profile of the awardees and heartily congratulated RITZ Magazine. When he danced a few steps from his cult hit Rowdy Rathore, the crowd burst out in cheers!
Actors Divya Spandana, Rima Kallingal, Taapsee Pannu, Trisha Krishnan, Dulquer Salmaan and Rana Daggubati were other films stars who received Awards for Iconic Entertainers of the Year.
Other Awardees included Producer Elred Kumar for KO (Tamil), Director Rajesh Pillai and Producer Listin Stephen for Traffic (Malayalam), Producer Gopichand Achanta and director Sreenu Vaitla for Dookudu (Telugu) and director Nagashekar for Sanju Weds Geetha (Kannada).
A galaxy of film personalities descended in Chennai from all parts of south India for the elegant RITZ Icon Awards ceremony. Aadhi Pinnisetty, Poornima Bhagyaraj and son Shantanoo, Simran with husband Deepak Bagga, director AR Murugadoss, Producers AM Rathnam, Kalaipuli S Dhanu and several others graced the event. Many appreciated the fact that RITZ had taken the effort to honour film producers as well, as they often remain unsung heroes.
In all, RITZ Awards was a celebration of trail-blazing south Indians who have made us all proud.
